We reveal who we are over time.
We represent who we are and what we stand for through our clothes, hair, makeup (or lack-there-of), our ideas, our hobbies, etc.
We feel as if these things are ours to keep and to possess as our own through time. When someone starts to pick up certain traits that were yours that they never showed any interest in before, how are you supposed to feel? Someone, right in front of you, is starting to take on your own identity and what you take pride in.
Some people get angry.
Others may get offended, or even jealous.
In these situations, depending on the person, I'm flattered that someone has grown to show an interest in the things I involve in my life. From my crystal obsession, to my space fetish, even with my obsession with scientists and philosophers like Carl Sagan, Joseph Campbell and Neil DeGrasse Tyson, I love when people start to become interested in what interests me.
They find you interesting and are intrigued by what you identify yourself by. They want to learn more about what makes you who you are. They aren't there to steal your thunder or your identity, but to learn more about it.
I enjoy sharing my interests with my loved ones and those I'm close with, it makes me feel really good that they enjoy what I take pride in.
I'm learning more and more with each day that passes about who I am as a person and who I want to be to those who are involved in my life.
Nobody is perfect and I find it annoying when people aren't understanding of that.
You fight and get angry at those who you are close to and someone will always do something that makes you upset at them, but don't let that become a reflection of who you are.
If someone becomes interested in the same thing you are interested in, don't show you are angry or upset. You can't say you haven't done the same thing. Who you are is a reflection of who your parents and friends are, mixed with your own twist on life.
Each thing you are interested in is meant for the world to love, not just you. Share what interests you and you will begin to see a little piece of who you are start to evolve in the world that surrounds you.
