You Are More

We cannot ever forget

You are more than your worst attribute. You are more than your illness. You are more than your body. You are more than the worst relationship you’ve had. You are more than your weight. You are more than your skin color. You are more than whatever that guy or girl says you are. You are more than the tears rolling down your face. You are more than likes on social media. You are more than what the world and life constantly says you are.

It is so easy to forget who you are with everything going on in our lives today. When everything seems to pile up and become overwhelming, that is when anxiety strikes. That is when your mind picks on every single bad aspect about you, every single thing someone has told you that you are or that you are not. Very rarely is there an inner voice convincing you, like actually and honestly convincing you, that you are worth more.

What holds you back the most is not what defines you. You define you. Your beautiful mind defines you. Your actions and motives define you. The love you share to another defines you. The world and anxiety is going to engulf you and attempt to swallow you whole. We don’t have to let that happen. Because we are more, because we have the amazing power inside of us, we do not have to let those terrible thoughts take over. You are beautiful. In every way, shape and form, you are so beautiful. Breathtakingly beautiful.

There isn’t a day that goes by where we do not face a challenge. What most of us forget is the challenge tends to be within ourselves. We are the hardest critic on ourselves most of the time. That is disturbing but could be turned into the most positive thing. We do not have an impact on how the world works, how others react to us or how we appear. But we do have the ability to change the way we interpret it. We have the power. We don’t have to think this way. I know this is not easily done and it probably will not come fast. But just know you have so much strength in you just waiting to be discovered; so much strength in your inner most parts just waiting to burst out and be your shield. There is so much inside of you that is incredible and the world is just waiting for your touch.

Just remember, you are more.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
