You Are Given A Life. Let's Make It A Good One
Melanie Campbell

I know I am not alone (well, at least I hope I'm not) when I say I can spend hours on Tumblr and Pinterest. My mother has yelled at me numerous times to get off my phone and use my own imagination and creative abilities. I don't go on these social media platforms because I don't have thoughts and ideas of my own. I go to Tumblr and Pinterest because I love to see what others are creating. I love stumbling across a quote or a story that opens my mind to a whole new perspective. A lot of times I will discover a quote that will inspire me to create something of my own, and that is exactly what happened here.

As I was scrolling through Tumblr one day, I came across a quote. Now, before I tell you what the quote said, I want you to think about life in general and the quality of your own.

The quote said, "We are not given a good life or a bad life. We are given a life. It's up to us to make it good or bad." I can honestly admit that I very rarely looked at life this way until I found this quote. My perspective has forever changed. My next thought was why. Why don't we see our lives in this way? In my opinion, it is because we do not want to take the blame. If things in your life continually go wrong or don't work out, it is much easier to blame it on bad luck or being given a bad life. When we see someone else with a life much better than our own, we often wish we would have been given a life like that. If this is the way you see life, I encourage you to change your perspective.

We are all given a life, but it truly is up to each and every one of us to make something of it, whether that be good or bad. It is more than possible for every human being to have a good life. It is 2016, we have more than enough resources to create something wonderful for ourselves. There is no excuse. If you think you don't have the means to utilize these resources, there are plenty of ways to get help. You just have to take it upon yourself to ask. We have all hit rock bottom or will at some point. That doesn't mean your life is bad. It means you need to try a little harder. Once you hit bottom, the only way left to go is up. We need to know what bad feels like in order to appreciate the good. I'ts never too late to redirect your life.

The next time you are putting yourself down and mentally cursing out everyone in your life, stop. Ask yourself, how did I get to this point? Evaluate everything you have done, and own up to it if you haven't been doing your best. It might suck, but making the necessary changes will pay off. When things are going great, don't forget to stay humble. Treat yourself, every now and then, for your hard work, and also thank those who support you.

You are given a life, and I hope you make it a good one.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

College is a great place to meet people, especially through Greek life. If you look closely at sororities, you'll quickly see there are many different types of girls you will meet.

1. The Legacy.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
