Be confident. Be you.

Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror? If so, what did you think? Did think to yourself that you are beautiful, smart, and talented? Or did you think that you need to lose weight and make self improvements? Have you ever been in a room full of people and compared yourself to others, wishing you were more like someone else? Thinner, prettier, smarter, and more talented? I feel that every person has these thoughts at some point in their life, which makes their confidence drop. I am going to be the person that tells you, you are good enough, you are beautiful, unique, and talented. Whether you believe me or not is your choice, but I want you to continue being yourself, because no one else can be you and you can never be someone else. Just like snowflakes, no two individuals are the same.

Self confidence is a key part of life. However, it is a part of life that every individual suffers with at some point. It is hard not to get down on yourself when you see someone you think is better than you. But I guarantee that you have something they don’t have. It is hard to love yourself when we live in such a competitive world. However, respecting and loving yourself is essential for living a life full of happiness, because without confidence, it is hard to be the unique and beautiful individual that you are. How can you ever expect to love someone else if you do not love your own self first?

Have you ever heard someone say that first impressions are everything? They truly are. The first impression you give someone is what they will remember of you. If you hold a lot of self confidence, someone will recognize that about you because it is very evident in one's personality. Remember this next time you are at a job interview. The interviewer will most likely hire the person who holds more confidence. I guess this is why my mother has always told me that confident people go further in life and are more successful.

Next time you are feeling down on yourself, and just do not feel that you are good enough, you are good enough. You are beautiful, unique, and you need to realize that. Here are some quotes to remember for the next time you do not love yourself as much as you should. Just remember, your attitude is everything, believe in yourself, love yourself, and just be you. Everyone else is already taken.

"Confidence makes you sexy" - Queen Latifah

"Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love" - Brene Brown
"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different" - Coco Chanel

"Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself." - Coco Chanel

"Don’t waste your energy trying to change opinions. Do your thing, and don’t care if they life it." - Tina Fey

"Being comfortable with who you are is the ultimate threat" - Sean Beaudoin

"When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things." -Joe Namath

"I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself."e -Beyonce

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
