Together, we can create change. That's the motto of the up and coming brand, York Project. Founded in 2013 out of a basement in metro Detroit, York Project is a lifestyle clothing brand for the "trailblazing millennial." However, the brand does more than just sell clothing: they give back. For every product sold, the company makes and donates a Donation Kit, complete with a canvas tote bag, toilet paper, socks, and bottled water. To date, they have made over 18,000 donations in 23 cities nationwide.

"We're dedicated to providing an unmatched retail experience by designing cool and conscious top quality goods that also create a positive social impact in communities everywhere," York Project partner Stephen Oh said.

Driven by a mission to do more than simply make great clothes, the brand encompasses their manifesto, "Do what we love. Inspire change-makers. Empower others."

Founder Josh York started the business in his basement in metro Detroit screenprinting t-shirts, hats, and other apparel for sports teams. He then decided he could create his own brand with his own last name. Thus, the brand was founded. After making about 50 sales on his online store, York decided he could do something more with his brand.

"That's when I realized I had a little bit of traction and I could do more with it than just make a profitable business," founder Josh York said in a recent video upload. "I decided to donate to the homeless shelter."

In today's world, where over half a million people in the United States are homeless, this brand could be exactly what is needed to start a movement of change.

"I want more people to know about the homelessness issue," Oh said. "Not many people realize just how many people are homeless and what percentage of them are children. It's our ultimate goal to create jobs and help them get back to a steady lifestyle–but with our resources right now, we're starting with donations."

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
