New York Comic Con 2016 was three days of early mornings and crowds upon crowds of people. It is the only time as a New Yorker that I suck it up and go to a place packed with people. I hate crowds, but I freaking love Comic Con.
This has been my third comic con and definitely most chill one yet. There weren’t a lot of panels I wanted to see besides the Jon Bernthal spotlight. He plays the Punisher in the thrilling Netflix show, Daredevil. This year I cosplayed slightly as Princess Jasmine and as Louise Belcher. I love dressing up and seeing what other do too. Some costumes like the robots are amazing and you can truly see the detail and hard work put into each costume.
My first day, I perused around, seeing what freebies I could get and if there were any fantastic art work I wanted. I ended up with some blue eyeshadow and a lipstick from NYX who were doing makeovers. They handed out different products each day. I ended up with some lipgloss, eyeliner and body paint. I purchased a drawing of Ghostbuster Jillian Holtzmann by artist Monica Gallagher. I also got a short story called Boobage by her in which she talks about having small boobs and I very much related to this.
My second day, I tried to see Teen Wolf in one of the merch rooms, but they had apparently done an interview somewhere else first. I then discovered that Stan Lee would be coming by later so I waited to see the legend. Stan Lee is such a precious old man. He is the creator of all these amazing comics that are now loved movies and shows. My aunt got a photo and autograph from him earlier that day. She was pretty hype.
My third day, I got there early to try and get my badge scanned to reserve a spot for Jon Bernthal. Thankfully I got in and what a wonderful man he is. I enjoyed his panel so much and he answered or tried to answer everyone's questions. He is currently filming his new show Punisher coming out in the future on Netflix so he wasn't able to talk about certain things. You can tell that he is one humble dude though who just loves what he does and promised to be as true to the comic character as possible. He's one badass man. He also loves and owns a pit bull who travels around on set with him. I thought that was awesome haha.
I can't wait until next comic con and for my new cosplays. I am a fangirl at heart and I can't wait to spend money on fandom merchandise and artwork that I don't need, but yet still kinda do.
