A New York City Christmas

Why New York City is a must-see during the holiday season

A New York City Christmas
Emily Taggart

There are so many positives about the holidays; spending time with family, enjoying the beautiful lights, winter weather activities, and so much more. I never thought I would be one to travel to New York City to see the famous Rockefeller Christmas tree or the Radio City Rockettes, but it happened. The crowds were brutal, the lines were awful, and every inch of the city was packed— but I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.

There's something special about seeing that famous tree in person; the way you just feel connected to everyone there, all because of the spirit of Christmas and the new year. That night I unexpectedly became a photographer for so many people wanting pictures with their loved ones. I may be guilty of asking people to take pictures as well. There's just something special about seeing the 36 Rockettes on stage dancing to some of the most well-known Christmas carols. Bringing all of our Christmas spirit to life in such an amazing experience. The Christmas Spectacular is a true classic that embodies the spirit of such a magical time of the year.

If you have never been to New York City at Christmas time, please add it to your bucket list. An experience like this is something everyone should do at least once. It is such an amazing way to celebrate the holidays and make new memories. Next on my list of holiday destinations is Disney World. . .

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
