Being a college student is one of the most stressful jobs to deal with on a daily basis. The schedules are unpredictable and there never seems to be any free time. Classes, exams, jobs and extracurricular activities consume us; however, there is always a point in the day where Netflix is on and there is relaxation time. In 30 minutes of yoga practice, it can melt the stress away.
One of the best detoxing yoga practices is "Yoga With Adriene" on YouTube. She has videos for every kind of daily problem, especially stress and anxiety. Here are a few links to some of her videos:
Here's the thing: with the busy unpredictable class schedule of an average college student, there might not be time to have a full yoga session. So here are a few quick poses for stress and anxiety relief.
Child's Pose/Extended Child's Pose
Child's pose, or Balasana, is a resting pose. Take this time to relax, and find a comfortable place.
Downward Facing Dog
Believe it or not, this pose is actually a resting pose. Downward dog can refocus the mind and help with relaxation.
Head to knee stretch
This stretch is great for the hamstrings and helps with feeling more centered. Because of this, it allows for a moment of relaxation to unwind from the day.
Seated forward fold
Along the same lines as above, this pose is a great stretch but is also very invigorating and relaxing.
Goddess Pose
This pose is for centering and grounding; it helps with detoxing and reconnecting with what's important.
Yoga is the perfect way to reconnect with your breath, de-stress and take some time out of the day for yourself. It is a beautiful practice that allows you to connect your brain and body and will help any college student unwind from the stressful days ahead.
