If watching CNN has taught me anything about life, it is that life is a great balancing act. While most of Houston was underwater after Hurricane Harvey, CNN and a fashion editor from Vogue decided to cover the type of shoes that First Lady Melania Trump was wearing. I thought what does it matter the type of shoes she was wearing. Then the coverage turned to the courageous rescues that were being made and the tragic events in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. There were stories of looting and then stories of human chains being made to wade out into the water to save people trapped in the flooding. It seemed as though there was a balancing act between good vs evil. In the end I am certain that good will win out.
It was good to see that Anheuser Bush started canning some water for Houston but it left the question of what about the people in Flint Michigan whose water is still undrinkable. Again showing us the fact that life is a balancing act. Maybe Anheuser Bush should take a week every 6 months to simply can and distribute free water to every state where they do business.
While many bashed Trump for using his stop in Texas as a campaign rally, there were many that appreciated his words. The fact remains that he had signed the necessary papers to get help into Texas as soon as was possible before Hurricane Harvey made landfall.
There were many people that went to social media to discredit Joel Olsteen before hearing the story. As I read my Facebook feed I realized that Joel's actions truly split the opinions of many on social media because many people needed someone to condemn for they are not happy unless they are complaining. The reality is that the church was flooded. This shows you that we need to find the balance and truth in all stories before we jump to conclusions.
Then there is JJ WATT whose 1 gesture of donating $25,000 and asking people to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey has generated over $8 million dollars in donations. Despite his great gesture to help there were still people who said he only donated $25,000. This again illustrates that regardless of what we do to help others there will always be the haters, doubters, and naysayers who find fault in what we do. This brings me again to the importance to understand that life is a balancing act.
The fact remains that whatever you do in life you will encounter people who appreciate what you are doing and those who will criticize what you are doing. Neither group matters, for at the end of the day all that matters is if you can answer yes to the questions, did I live my day in joy and did I bring joy to others today? The balance of life is that in every positive act there is some negativity and in every negative act their is some positive.
I have come to understand that if I focus on the good and the support that I am getting from people instead of the people who have called me names, failed to show up for appointments, or did not honor their commitments things work out for the best. I have come to learn that one of the greatest components to have a life of balance is to be filled with gratitude even when someone is negative, for that negative encounter contains a lesson. In many cases what you think is a bad thing is actually a good thing, for GOD has better plans for you. The key is to live a balanced filled life and to do what will enhance your personal, professional, and spiritual life.
