Every morning I wake up with a lot of "needs."
I need some coffee, I need to go to the gym, I need to see my friends, I need to get that grade, that job, that phone, those shoes. I need, I need, I need. And a lot of the time, the problem is that I need more sleep. I need more rest. I need more answers. I need more forgiveness and grace, more than what I've already been receiving.
Nothing ever seems to be enough. We search for answers and solutions, scratching all of our itches and chasing our tails in circles over and over and over. We try to fix broken things with other broken things and get confused when nothing works. And we view the Lord as a last resort, as just enough to temporarily solve our problems until we become drained and empty again and have to begin the search for more answers.
It's all a lie. And this false and empty lie has resulted in a distorted and damaged view of the way our Father wants to love and serve and provide for us.
Jesus doesn't give lightly or hesitantly. He gives everything, always. He doesn't just patch up our holes as we wait for them to burst again. He fixes them, heals them, and makes us stronger than we were before. He doesn't just refill us to where we can barely make it through the day; He overwhelms us with abundance until we are overflowing and pouring out the blessings and joy and grace and goodness He has planted within us.
The Lord's provision will never fall short. It won't even come to close to being "barely enough." God created us in His image, and He still did more. He sent His son to walk upon this earth and dwell among us, and He still did more. Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for all of our sins and purchased us, and He still did more. He made us heirs of His Kingdom, partakers of His divine nature, and He still did more. He repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly gives more than before, gives more than we can think of or sum up or understand. And He's coming back, to glorify us along with Him.
Jesus is more than enough. He is beyond more than enough. We do not have to wake up every day dreading the struggles that are to come, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, just hoping to make it through the next few hours. We wake up with encouragement, with joy, and with hope because we already have more than we could ever need. Because we are waiting for an eternity promised to us before the foundations of the earth were laid.
Titus 2:11-14: "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works."
This provision isn't conditional; it's not a matter of buying it or earning it. The richest person can't buy it, and the most talented person can't win it. We just say "yes." "Yes, You are enough. Creator of the universe, lover of my soul, You are enough."
2 Corinthians 9:8: "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."
