The next installment of the iPhone is nearly upon us. According to rumors the iPhone 7 should be a game changer. Last year we got a waterproof and shock resistant phone from Samsung which raised the bar on smart phones. One of the big criticisms of apple is that their phones are too expensive and their screens break with the slightest drop. Sure there are cases that will protect your phone like the incredibly bulky otterbox, or the thinner lifeproof case that will slowly but consistently break and fall apart. These cases do a pretty good job of protecting the phone but they all cost about $80-$100 each. Lifeproof used to replace broken or damaged cases for free however, how they are charging a small fee to replace the case. The small fee isn’t a big deal unless you’re replacing the case because it and your phone shattered. Then the $4.99 replacement fee gets tacked onto a $500 replacement phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a great screen that takes up practically the entire surface of the phone. Is waterproof and as advertised, shock and dirt proof. Since this phone was released, people have debated changing phones. Personally, the reason I haven’t changed is because my entire digital profile is through Apple devices so having a Samsung phone would be a massive pain to manage.
Through the last few months there have been many rumors on the 7 and what it will entail. The rumors range from not having a 3mm headphone jack, to a thicker camera, and now finally the rumors include waterproofing. According to the trends on facebook, over the last few weeks, the iPhone 7 will finally be waterproof, not have a headphone port, be shock resistant, have a full surface screen, and come in 32, and 256gig storage options. This is the iPhone we have all been waiting for. While the recent editions have been sleek and cool looking they haven’t much changed their look in the last 8 years. The new phone will take full advantage of the surface area on the front (rumor has it), add another speaker (again rumors), and be water resistant since nothing is “proof” in this day and age because companies don’t want to run the risk of being actually held to concrete standards.
In an online ad spot, we saw the iPhone as well as a few hints at the features. It ended with the tagline “see you on the 7th.” It was confirmed that apple would be having an announcement on September 7th. Several sources and fan speculation leads us to believe it will be the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch 2.
