In two weeks, I will be moving back into a dorm at BSU. I am thrilled to return and see friends and experience college life once again. I have got some interesting classes and ambition to raise my GPA and become an RA for the next school year. I am continuing on with studying German and have changed one of my minors to the language which was quite a jump. My dorm is gorgeous, with A/C, and my roommate is as sweet as can be. Just because I am excited about returning to school doesn't mean that I am excited about leaving home once again after three months of being here.
Most young adults my age are ready to have their own place and move out of their parents' house. In my opinion, I am only 19 and am certainly not mature enough to live on my own. I would probably burn the place down knowing me. Another thing, I love my parents and little brother a lot. I am okay living by their rules and well the pets. I hate leaving my babies, two dogs, and two cats. One of the cats is 'my" cat in the sense that I get to keep her when I actually move out. My parents and I have a good relationship and believe it or not, I enjoy hanging out with them. They are actually pretty cool, so is the brother.
All my necessities are met here and then some. The church I grew up in is here and I enjoy going most Sundays. My favorite stores are within arms reach of me. I can walk around my neighborhood alone without carrying pepper spray.
Even with all of those pros to being home, being at school teaches me to be independent and forces me to grow up. I learn to manage my time better, my money, and my resources. I also know when to take advantage of amazing deals at the grocery store and to also use coupons when given them. As you may see from all of those reasons, that is why I am not excited to leave home but am excited to go back up to school.
