Yes, I am a conservative christian. No, I do not hate the Muslim community.
These are a few stereotypes I feel to be very prevalent in today's society, a stereotype that was handed out because of a few bad apples in the bunch, just like all others. I am a proud conservative christian woman, and that's okay. I love my country, I love God, and I love my government. In today's world it seems almost as if being labeled a conservative is something to be ashamed of, especially when the word "Christian" is paired. In some radical cases, conservatives are even compared to white supremacists.
I'm here to tell you that for most moderate conservative Christians, this is not true. I do not hate any person because of the color of their skin, social status, gender, economic situation, or for any other reason really. I do not hate those who have a differing opinion than mine. Actually, if you were to ask most Republicans, nine times out of 10, they are up for a good debate. If it is wrong to be hated for the color of someones skin, why should I be hated for my opinion?
Being a conservative means to me that I have a strict interpretation of the Constitution as a living document. I believe in more power to the states and less to the federal government. I believe I have the right to bear arms. I believe that our troops who have served, are serving, or will serve in the future deserve to be funded and protected to the best measures possible so that they may protect us in the same fashion. I believe that our country should address our domestic problems before we spread ourselves too thin helping the rest of the world. I believe everyone has the right to pursue the American dream if they so choose, but only in the the way our government has deemed legal. I believe that everyone should have the same starting line, but not necessarily the same finish line.
Being a Christian means to me that Jesus Christ is the one true savior. Being a Christian means believing in the word of God. I do not believe that my religion alone is right, nor do I believe that all people should have to agree with me. I do not hate Jewish, Muslim, Protestants, Mormons, or anyone who worships a God other than I do. Again, differing opinions are what make the world go round.
Not all conservatives are racist. Not all Christians are fascists. There are so many stereotypes in the world, which is quite ridiculous if you ask me. Everyone is different, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and that is what makes every day different and interesting.
