Yesterday was Trump's first Press Conference with the media, and it was nothing short of insane. But what else could you expect? Most notably he called the leaks from the current Russia allegations 'real' but that the news was 'fake,' whatever that means. He called out the news for being dishonest, once again averting attention from the wrongs of his administration – he is a master con artist.
Clinton Email Façade
Let's just take a look back to where it all began: the 2016 election. What was the scandal everyone was focusing on? Clinton's emails: she had used a private email server run out of her home in New York when she was Secretary of State from 2009-12. The thing is, she may not have realized that was an issue, she claimed it was for 'convenience'. But others argue she did it to hide information, for example, info about the Benghazi attack in 2012.
The fact of the matter is, she was investigated twice by the FBI and cleared each time. She never argued against their investigation, she was very humble and honest during the campaign, despite the many attacks which cost her many voters. The email controversy caused many people to distrust her, therefore either not voting at all, or voting for an independent which in turn helped Trump get elected.
Like it or not, Trump had a powerful campaign. He was an expert at attacking people, and shifting attention away from his own drama which consisted of: mocking a reporter, the 'grab her by the p****' video from 2005, and calling Mexicans 'rapists and murderers.'
So how did he divert the attention? Arguably, one of his number one strategies was attacking, as he called her 'crooked Hillary.' He screamed loudly every chance he could about her email investigation, making her look like the most deplorable human being there ever was. I've got to say, it was a great façade for all of the unknown stuff going on behind the scenes of the Trump campaign. Yesterday, CNN put out a timeline starting with last year's primaries showing how we can connect the dots with this whole Russia thing.
Connecting Dots
In March, Trump hired Paul Manafort to help in obtaining optimal delegates for his campaign. In July, Trump called on Russia to hack Clinton's private emails. And during the whole campaign, he acted as though he's never talked to any Russian officials or Putin, though he talks about Putin like he knows him very well. Back in 2015, in an interview on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe', they ask him about Putin's praise of Trump. Hosts of the shows, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski say “…You still like him even though he kills Journalists and invades other countries?" Trump replies with “At least he's a leader, unlike the one we have in this country." So there Trump is praising the Russian leader that has had journalists killed, and demeaning our then President Obama.
To say things are fishy is an understatement.
Back to Manafort, who used to be a consultant for Ukraine's ruling party, it was reported by the New York Times in August that he had received $12.7 million in undisclosed payments from 2007 to 2012 from the party leader. A few days later he denied it. He then resigned shortly after.
And the latest that really brought all of this to light is the resignation of National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn because he had misled Vice-President Mike Pence about past conversations with the Russian Ambassador. Flynn had denied that he had conversations with the ambassador and Pence repeated that on television.
Lastly, it was reported that Trump aides were in communication with Russian officials during the whole campaign. This was confirmed by several intelligence officials. Among those Trump aides, Manafort and Flynn, and the conversations were frequent. Apparently, many of the conversations took place around the time Russia was suspected of hacking into the DNC and other Democratic organization emails.
Time to Investigate
As we saw yesterday, Trump denied all accusations, calling the media dishonest and fake, once again diverting attention away from him as he did during his campaign.
