This Year I Am Thankful For Being An Ambassador For Cedar Crest College.

Thanksgiving comes around once a year and thats when everyone reflects on what they could possibly be thankful for that we have to impact on. This year I would have to say that my ambassador job at Cedar Crest College is what I am most thankful for this year. Every job has its ups and downs and after 4 years of working this job, there is nothing more I could be thankful of this year.

Being an Admissions Ambassador means so much more to me now that it did 4 years ago when I started this journey my freshman year. I was looking for a job and this one just presented itself in an email I was scared to answer, but I did it because I knew it would change me. I answered the email, got to do an interview, and got hired for the job....

I had no idea what I was signing up for really! I read the description and soon I was sitting in the office doing inquiry cards for the incoming freshman (the same thing I was not even a semester ago). I had to decided to be either my normal, cheerful self and do what I know best or fall flat on my butt and make a fool of myself.

I remember during my first tour I was so nervous about what to do, if I was saying the right things or not, and if I was actually doing the best I can for this college. I did not get the answers to my question until it came to my first Accepted Students day and I saw perspective students come in that I gave a tour to either individually or at other events. One student came up to me and said, "After you gave me the tour of campus and you told me your story, I knew this was the campus for me and I wanted to tell you thank you."

All of my worries went away at that very moment. I knew at that moment I was doing something just right, but it was more rewarding when they said they wanted to be an ambassador just like me so they can change lives just like I changed theirs.

As I am entering my last year, I realized that I grew so much as a person because I decided to stand up in front of families and tell them why I love being an Ambassador for my college. Being an ambassador was my first job I ever had so I can now say I held a job for four years on campus. I love that my college allows young women like myself to grow and find out who we are in this world that we live in. We get to create our own opportunities one step at a time with help and pressure from our professors. I love that I have just as many opportunities as the next person because competition is not in our vocabulary-we all will get there together as a family.

We will not fall into the cracks.

We will not leave here being the same person as we were when we started.

I am a proud Cedar Crest Falcon women.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
