New Year New Stuff!

New Year New Stuff!

With the horror that was the year 2016 done forever, it is time to now focus on the future that is 2017. So much has happened such as constant celebrity deaths, the 2016 election, Zika virus outbreaks, and the rest of that long list. But now, 2017 is here and I decided to list eight things I am personally excited about in 2017 in no particular order.

1. First modern female led super hero movie

She first appeared in Batman v Superman, but now she has her own movie to kick butt in. Gal Gadot will be taking center stage in the new Wonder Woman movie. The movie is still half a year away but will be out in theaters June 2nd.

2. Nintendo Switch

If you or anyone you know owns a Wii U, then you know how much criticism it received after it came out. Critics noted how there was very few games that used the touchpad control as an integrated and essential part of games. But now Nintendo has stopped production of the Wii U and is now releasing the Nintendo Switch which they describe as a handheld and a home console in one with multiple ways to play. Watch above to see what they mean. This is coming out in March 2017.

3. Crash Bandicoot Remastered

Using the nostalgia of the 90s, Sony teamed up with Naughty Dog to bring Crash Bandicoot back with fully remastered graphics and all. At the time of writing this is now set for release sometime in 2017.

4. New Music

Music stars such as Iggy Azelea, Little Big Town, Big Sean, Kelly Clarkson, Major Lazer, and many more have all mentioned or plan on having new albums out at some point this year.

5. More Will and Grace

After ending in 2007, more Will and Grace has been asked for by fans. A spin off idea came out in 2008 but nothing happened with it. Fans were then surprised when in September 2016 a short clip was released of a reunion with the focus on voting and the election. Now some time in the future of 2017 we will have a 10 episode season of Will and Grace!

6. Orange is the New Black

Now we can finally see what happens after all the stuff that went down on that last episode and this final image from when season four was ended.

7. More Marvel!

Releasing on May 5th, Chris Pratt and friends will be back to save the galaxy once more with a little Groot before joining in the anticipated next Avengers movie. Let us not forget the new Spiderman movie as well. After creating a deal with Sony, a now younger Peter Parker will join the MCU in Spiderman Homecoming being released July 2017.

8. Star Wars Episode VIII

We will finally get to see what happens after this image from Episode VII on December 15th. It may seem like you could be in a galaxy far far away faster than waiting but hopefully it will be time to see this faster than we wish 2016 was over!

Anything else I might of missed that you are excited for in 2017? Let me know in the comments section down below!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
