6 Reasons Why 2017 Is Actually Going To Be Your Year
Magic 4 Walls

Another 365 days have come and gone, and just like that it's 2017.

A lot can happen in a year. You can fall in love, and you can fall out of love. You can make new friends, and lose some too. You could have the best year of your life, but you could also have the worst. Regardless of what happened in 2016, it's time to leave it behind and start fresh. It's time to let bygones be bygones and start making the best of the next 365 days. This year is going to be your year- and here's why.

1. You're Smarter

Another year older means you're another year wiser. This year you won't make the same mistakes you did last year, because now you know better! You won't answer his texts anymore because you know you deserve better. You won't have that third vodka cranberry because you know you'll regret it in the morning. This year you're choosing to be smart, and it's going to look great on you.

2. You're More Confident

A new year has the ability to bring out the best in people. You're setting goals for yourself, you're going back to the gym, and you're not eating local Chinese takeout every night anymore. Keep that mentality throughout the entire year, and you'll be too busy to have any insecurities keeping you down.

3. You're Fearless

Last year may have got the best of you, but this year you're taking the driver's seat. This year you're not going to be scared to take risks, because you've seen how fast time flies and you don't want to waste another second of it. Life is too short to sit around pondering the "what ifs." This year, when you want something, you're going to get it.

4. You're Happy

Leaving all your problems in 2016 has left you nothing but happiness entering the new year. This year, you're going to wake up everyday with a smile, and go to bed with one too. Don't dwell on the small things. When you do, you don't leave room for anything else because your mind is constantly occupied with problems that don't deserve a second of your time. Devote this year to you, you deserve it.

5. You're Driven

A new year means setting new goals. If you didn't get what you wanted in 2016, that's okay- because you're going to get it this year. Just because you aren't where you want to be yet, doesn't mean you wont get there. 2017 is the year to work hard and take chances. Go after what you want THIS year, not the next one or the one after that. Keep your dreams and goals in focus, and you'll own 2017.

6. You're New

It's a new year, which means you have a clean slate. You can be whoever you want to be. You can do whatever you want to do. You can climb that mountain, or sail that boat, or run that marathon you've always wanted to. You can change your hair, you can change your style, and you can change you. This year, you're going to be better than ever because you believe you will be. If you have a positive mindset, one that tells you to live everyday as happy and fearless as possible- then 2017 will be a breeze for you. Don't dim your light for anyone, because this is your year to shine. Enthusiasm is contagious, so start and epidemic. Here's a toast for you: Cheers to a better, happier, and healthier year.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
