With the new year coming up we start to think about new beginnings and things we can work on to make the next year even better than the ones before. We set goals for ourselves and we try to accomplish them. I think there are lots of things that I have said I am going to do and then it ends up never happening. Here are a few things that I think most of us can relate to when it comes to setting goals in the new year.
1. Diets..
This is one of the number one new years revolutions people put at the top of their list. I have been here and tried. I start off with this expectation that I can loose a certain amount of pounds by so and so date. It goes really well the first few days and then your friends or family want to go out and you think you can just order a salad at the restaurant and be okay. Wrong, because then the table next to you orders big plate of cheesy nachos. All you can think to yourself is stay strong. Then you look at the menu which happens to have pictures and your eyes keep gravitating towards the huge picture of the pizza. Finally when the waiter or waitress comes you order a salad but your friend or family member orders your favorite kind of pizza. Well the diet just flew out the window because you steal a piece of pizza. Its over, you can't help it. The love for pizza is too strong.
2. Working out
Lets just say that I have had a gym membership for way too long. Its that time of the year where every gym in the area gets pumped up because they know that they are about to make a lot of money. This specific new years revolution is hard because you start off on a good foot and you go regularly, then its gets gold outside or its raining and you just don't feel like going anymore because you would rather take a nap. Once you step out of your gym routine there is no going back. You need to cancel that gym membership right away because you aren't going to go again.
3. Save Money
This resolution I have tried many times to accomplish, usually I'm really good at not spending a lot of money but there is always that one thing that breaks me. It always ends up being a single trip to Target. It kills me, or should I say it kills my savings account every time.
4. Be less stressed
I don't know why I even think this is possible because every year I say that I am going to work on not being as stressed out and it never fails to be thrown back into my face because every year my stress levels get worse. I have finally come to the realization that the more I fight it the worse it gets so I need to just breathe and move on.
Im sure that some of you can reach these goals and be a rockstar, but my new years resolution this year is to let go of unrealistic goals and go with the flow of life. In the words of Twenty One Pilots "I'm falling so Im taking my time on my ride"
