New Year, New President

Trump is in office, what now?

New Year, New President
ABC 7 news

As we all know by now, Donald Trump is now officially the new president of the United States. That, then, begs the question: what now?

There is tons and tons of negative energy towards our government at the moment. I recently underwent a little study in my public administration class and found out that everyone in that class does not like the current form of the electoral process that we have today to elect our president. There is a lot of complaining and resentment going on and it is rather unfortunate.

I do not understand why so many people want to complain but yet so many people are not politically active. This is on us. If you're apart of the crowd that does not like this turn out then do something about it, in the right way. Pay more attention to politics, get more involved in local elections, and local government.

Our government is going to be ran the way we choose it to be. But in a sense its a little too late to take action. The damage has been done and it will continue. This is on us.

Many opinions of the previous election were viewed as choosing the lesser of two evils; which is agreeable. But the reason why it got that way is because we allowed it. This is on us.

So I raise the question again, what now? Now we deal with the choices of the American people and see what the new guy has to offer. Now we reflect upon the enormous amount of millennial who aren't politically active and change that. Now we embrace a sense of patriotism and do things they way the people want. Now it is time for those who are upset to pay attention to politics more than ever so that they won't feel this way about a president again. This is OUR government, OUR country, OUR lives, now is the time to stop watching sitcoms and time to turn on the news. What now? Now we participate. This on us.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
