It was an interesting experience growing up in a Christian school. I enjoyed the small class sizes and morning worship, but I'm especially grateful it was where I found God to begin with. My school had its perks, but also its downsides. Here are the pros and cons of growing up in a Christian school.
1. The class sizes were SO TINYÂ
GiphyThere were about ten kids in my grade, and we all had the same classes together. It was enjoyable most of the time, but it was like being trapped in a bubble.
2. The dress code was kinda ridiculous.Â
No images on shirts, no sweatpants, no facial hair, no piercings, and the list goes on.
3. Watching Veggietales was an absolute treatÂ
GiphyWhen the teacher popped in a Veggietales tape, you knew it was going to be a good day.
4. You had worship time and prayer every morningÂ
GiphyThere was no better way to kick off the day ahead.
5. Uniforms?Â
GiphyNot every Christian school has uniforms. My school didn't begin their uniform policy until AFTER I switched schools. And I'm still happy about it.
7. You've listened to every single Christian artist out there
Chris Tomlin, Kutless, TobyMac, Hillsong, and many more. Casting Crowns is my personal favorite.
8. You had a "Bible class" every yearÂ
On top of our typical math, history, science, and english, we had a Bible class. They were a great way to study the big book.
9. Your "cafeteria" was also the gymÂ
A lot of rooms in the building had multiple purposes.
10. The core classes (science, history, etc.) were intertwined with Biblical teachings
There was nothing wrong with this; it was actually quite interesting.
11. All your peers were goody goodys...NOTÂ
Even though "Christian" was in the school's title, there were still bad eggs.
12. You knew EVERYONEÂ
There was no one you DIDN'T know. The student population was less than a hundred.
13. All your school plays were family friendly
No character deaths, no stage kisses, and there's always a happy ending. Rated G, kids.
14. There were hardly any clubs or activitiesÂ
I honestly don't recall any clubs available while I was there.
16. And lastly, you were in the same building for all thirteen yearsÂ
You never had to switch to a different building for elementary, middle, or high school. You were basically stuck.
