Could World War III Be Upon Us?

I wonder if the voters had thought about any of this when they went in and made their decisions.

After Trump sent missiles to Syria I really started to think about what would happen if World War III were to actually happened.

What if every man we knew was drafted in the blink of an eye and forced to go to war? What if they refused? What if woman and children were forced to go? Would woman go to war because now we are all for equality or would we pull the woman card so we wouldn't have to? Would they want a woman to stay home and take care of things while the men are gone? Would women start a woman's rights march to be allowed in the war? If we didn't want to allow our children to go, what would happen? If my boyfriend who spends most nights cuddled on the couch watching Netflix, was suddenly called to go to war with a day's notice-- what would I do? What would you do? If the war was brought into our towns, how well would our generation of "hipsters" protect us?

I'm not sure if I want to rest my life in the hands of a millennial who still lives at home with mom and is just waiting for his band to make it big. It's terrifying and hard to imagine that another world war could be upon us. To imagine the people who would be drafted is even scarier. I can't imagine my friends and family leaving on such short notice, the last kiss for what could be forever, hanging onto their last words trying to remember what their voice sounded like. It's scary to think about.

I'm thankful for the men and woman who have given their lives and voluntarily fight for our independence every day, I don't understand how they do it and I know I couldn't ever, but I am thankful. Unpredictability is scary, not know what our country has in store for us is scary, and wondering what our next move is and if it's going to jeopardize our nation is scary. I wonder if the voters had thought about any of this when they went in and made their decisions. To me, it feels more like a reality show where the nation just cast their vote to evict everything we have stood for and sent us all packing.

The idea of World War III is scary and I hope we don't have to face it but imagine if we do.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows.
