This Wednesday morning you may have noticed a surplus of students in matching gray t-shirts around campus. These aren't just any students, but one of the 1648 members of Greek Life at West Virginia University. On the front of their t-shirts, they are proudly displaying the letters of their Greek organizations. September 7th was the first WVU Greek Shirt Day.
In an effort to promote and show the community their sense of unity and togetherness, fraternity and sorority women alike were proudly sporting their letters. A new tradition for the 2016-2017 school year for Greeks is to wear their matching shirts on the first Wednesday of every month. Members are encouraged to wave to their fellow Greeks they see on campus.
The WVU Panhellenic Council is holding a photo challenge in which Greek students participating in WVU Greek Shirt Day can win a Chipotle gift card if they take a photo with other Greeks wearing their shirts and use the hashtag #WVUGreekShirtDay.
Any freshman students considering going Greek are encouraged to consider going through formal recruitment at the beginning of the Spring Semester.
