Things WT Seniors Wished as a Freshman to Accomplish Before Graduation

There are always things we wish would accomplish, but usually never do - like a New Year's Resolution or a bucket list.

In less than two months, hundreds of seniors will walk the stage and graduate from WT, myself included. So, after thinking about this (and maybe slightly fearing it) I thought of a couple things I remember as a freshman hoping I would accomplish by the time I was a senior. Most of these I have definitely not accomplished, but hey, maybe some of the other seniors have! So here goes:

  1. To take the stairs to the top of the CC without sounding like the big bad wolf about to huff and puff the little piggy's house down.
    1. It's a thing. I personally feel like I might die of an asthma attack afterwards, but I am out of shape, so hopefully other seniors have fared better here.
  2. To figure out what they are going to do with their life.
    1. Yeah, life decisions are a big deal, especially a life decision about what you will do for the rest of your life. It's hard. I still don't know.
  3. To get rid of the freshman 15.
    1. Ha. Ha! HA! Definitely did not happen for me, but that's okay!
  4. To go into the Buffalo Fountain platform without getting in trouble.
    1. I have heard stories of people doing this. I personally don't think I would make the jump without actually falling in and like breaking my ankle. But good luck to all the rest of you guys!
  5. To use all of their meal plan at least once
    1. One time I only had two left. I felt like the most accomplished person ever. But now I am lucky it its below 60.
  6. To graduate with a 4.0
    1. Sometimes you pick a major that you actually 100% not meant for and you get a B. That's okay. But also lots of classes are really hard. Like Organic Chemistry, if you make it out with a B, props to you, you are my hero.
  7. To have a plan after graduation
    1. Career Services has lots of great options and opportunites to help you figure what you want to do. They rock, use them!
  8. To make it through four years without pulling an all-nighter
    1. Procrastination is a thing, which sometimes results in needing the whole night before to prepare yourself. It happens to the best of us and the worst of us.
  9. To find a partner, best friend, soulmate, etc.
    1. At this age, everyone is asking you if you are seeing anyone or if you've met anyone, or, like in my case, everyone from your close family to your distant relatives to people from your church trying to play match-maker.
  10. Oh and to figure out what they are going to do with their life
    1. This one deserves to be mentioned twice because, well, life is hard and scary.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
