What Exactly Is Wrong With The DCEU?
Flickering Myth

As anyone who knows me well enough at this point knows without a doubt, I love the DCEU. However, I'm able to admit that the movies that have been... flawed. In particular, I find a lot of issue with that of Suicide Squad. But in an attempt to get more into a factual state of things. There are some serious things wrong with the DCEU.

One of the many criticisms that I've heard is simply that the heroes aren't acting the way they should. People are saying that Superman should be acting the way he always has been for known for. Superman has a massive reputation for being the American Icon. "Truth, Justice and the American Way" is something that is constantly associated with the character. Superman instead is seen in these movies as just power unleashed, massive destruction with no regard for human life in the area. More so, as the movies continue they "kill" the man of the steel, but his death isn't nearly as meaningful as it should be because the man that died isn't the superman that we know.

Another is people constantly criticizing the tone of these movies, always claiming they're grim and moody. Full of nothing but mindless destruction. Even the color pallet has been criticized, as being too dark. Not a lot of color compared to that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Destruction is something that is all over the movies, massive destruction and death are all over the place. While this is present in the MCU, there are consequences to this, the death of the citizens in those movies matter. The damage that occurs is important to the plot and is able to impact the character in strong ways. A great recent example of this is Captain America: Civil War.

And lastly, sometimes these movies just aren't good movies.Suicide Squad seemed to be if it was something more than a jumbled mess at times. It seemed to be a dark parody of the Guardians of the Galaxy. While the acting in the film was regarded as being great or all over the place.Suicide Squad tone shifted between being humorous and dark and brooding, even a few moment of sweetness that felt completely out of place. While the darker movies are almost humorless and the emotional moment of even less fullfilling.

DC's continually trying to fix their movies in the goal to get to the top of the movies in an effort to get as much money as marvel is. I'm a DC fanboy at heart, I'm always optimistic to see where these films will go next. With Wonder Woman coming out in the next month, I'm hoping that this movie will be the one that can finally save the film universe from the negative reputation is starting to build.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
