A Letter To My Future Little

Dear Future Little,

It's kind of hard to believe that I'm going to become someone who in a sense, is like a big sister to you. I've never been a big sister to another girl before and I honestly don't really know what to expect. I'd hope that you like me just as much as I like you because most likely, I will be crazy about you. I hope you'll see me as someone you can depend on and look up to. Coming to college, I didn't have any experience with Greek life except for what I saw in "The House Bunny" and "Sydney White". I know both of those movies were very heavily stereotyped, but they both had a common lesson:

In the end, where you end up and who you end up surrounding yourself with should put you in place where you feel completely accepted. I can go on and on about having movie marathons together and taking late night trips to get fast food (which are still the best thing ever) but I want you to know that it's okay to let every part of you shine through, even the pieces you have a trouble liking about yourself. Because in the end, that's what matters the most. It's about you being about to trust someone fully and not feeling scared to be honest with them.

I get that it's kind of scary to go through a process where you have to find someone to do just that with, someone you have never met before but I'm telling you now, I will try my hardest to a be a friend and sister who you can look at and say, "She's my big and I trust her with all of my heart." I might be expecting a lot to happen between us but it's because I will most likely also be in love with you and think you are the cutest thing ever. It's casual. But anyways, I just want to say that no matter what, I will never judge you and will always be there to help, give advice, be a shoulder to cry on or for whatever you need. College is tough enough already without other factors in life making it harder to get up every day and have the motivation to keep going. I get it. I've been there and I just want you to know that I've got your back. I'm so excited to meet you and I can't wait to start making memories. I hope you have an amazing time going through recruitment and I'll see you soon.

Sincerely,

Your future big

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
