Honestly, it feels as though I just finished writing my first novel, but it has actually been a while since I parted ways with my story. To be honest, at the time of writing this article, it has been three years, nine months, and one day. During this time, my life has become an absolute mess. The biggest obstacle that I had to deal with was starting college. It's hard to become inspired when you have several different exams to study for. I have not been able to write as much as I used to. Without realizing it, I had put my writing on the back burner. It almost feels like I have lost a part of myself, something vital to who I am as a human being. I am determined to take it back.

I am participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, which is a writing competition where many novelists from all over the world try to write 50,000 words in one month. Here are some goals that I hope to achieve while attempting this amazing experience again.

I will challenge myself this month.

The thought of writing 50,000 words in 30 days is daunting, but I am confident that I will achieve my goal. Obviously, it will take a lot of determination and self-discipline. I know I can do this because I have done it before.

I won't stop writing.

No matter how hard this month gets, I will keep moving forward with my novel. In my opinion, the word count is not the most important thing that I should be focusing on. Progress is everything, no matter how small it is.

I want to speak my mind.

In the craziness of my life, I sometimes forget that I even have an opinion on issues other than academic success. By participating in this bizarre event, I want to express my personality through creative writing. I probably won't let anyone else read my novel, but the idea of documenting an idea on paper seems very rewarding.

Explore nature.

In the past, I have never taken the time to write outside. Now that I own a computer that doesn't require the Internet to perform basic functions, I can finally take the plunge. I think that sunlight is good for creativity, anyway.

Hold onto inspiration.

Since completing the rough draft of my first novel, I haven't been able to keep my motivation. Once I establish my writing patterns, I want to stick with it so I don't stop.

This is my resolution. I will write 50,000 words during April 2016. If you would like to track my virtual journey, here is my writing profile. I really need a few cheerleaders to keep me going! Wish me luck!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
