I have been blessed with many very intelligent friends with majors ranging anywhere from mechanical engineering to social justice and welfare studies, making my friend group both diverse and talented. That being said, a majority of my friends are science-based majors: engineering, nursing, pre-physicians assistant, pre-dental, all of that good stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love having all of these science-loving friends, but there are some things that we just can’t relate to. They’ll have a full body scan exam looking for possible abnormalities of the skin while I have a ten page paper to write in two days—we’re just different. Nevertheless, it’s both wonderful and tragic. Here are a few experiences I’ve had with my lovely friends:
1. My engineering friend trying to explain what dynamics is.
My head hurts. Please stop.
2. When they mention a class they're taking that doesn't even sound like a real word.
Example: Ergonomics. What?
3. When your friends make another creative friend.
How dare you.
4. When they're all sharing notes for their science classes and studying together while I'm writing my 15-page paper due tomorrow.
Oh, don't mind me, I'll just be alone in this corner if you need me.
5. When they're all bonding over medical and science things and you're just like...
Speak English, please.
7. When they're done with their tests but your paper isn't done.
Oh, don't worry about me, I'm fine!
8. When your Nursing and Pre-PA friends say you have great veins for taking blood.
Thank you?
9. When someone says their major is harder than yours because it's "only writing."
Excuse me?
Stay strong my fellow writing majors. We got this.
