The Joys of Writing a Letter

Writing Letters: Relevant Or Old-fashioned?
Wikipedia

What is letter writing? Is it still relevant or important? Perhaps it is an obsolete practice that no one ever does anymore. Or maybe it is an exceptional way of communicating with friends and family. I find that writing letters is an amazing opportunity for me to correspond personally with others. I absolutely love to write letters. Whether it is exchanging cards with my grandparents or regularly corresponding with my best friend, I believe that there is something special about keeping in touch through writing.

I think letter writing is unfortunately becoming a lost art. Nowadays it is not convenient or conducive to write letters when we can simply send a quick text, make a phone call, or post something on Facebook. Nonetheless, despite the change and progress technology has brought us, letters are a unique form of communication. They provide us a way to grow closer to one another through genuine and real correspondence.

Now, I know letter writing may sound like an archaic, old-fashioned practice to some, but it can be an extremely rewarding experience. This past summer, I started exchanging letters with my best friend, and it has been wonderful. Part of it may be because I love to write, but I think it is more the fact that I was able to develop a closer relationship with my friend. We can write each other letters that easily span 3-4 pages, filled with daily anecdotes, general thoughts and feelings on life, and even a few secrets. What is probably the best thing for me when I write letters is that I can be more myself. I am not hiding behind a social media account or a cell phone number or anything else. It is only me, a pen, and a few pieces of paper that will soon be transformed into a personal letter where I share with my friend about how I am doing and what is going on in my life.

Obviously, letter writing might not come as effortlessly or be as meaningful to some individuals as it is to others. However, I think you would discover that it is an extraordinarily special thing to strike up a correspondence with a friend, family member, or significant other. Not only is this a great way to creatively express yourself through writing but you can also grow immensely closer with the person you are communicating with. It may seem daunting in the beginning when you are attempting to pen a letter. Nevertheless, it does not have to be this way. No one is expecting a well-written novel or your darkest secret. Instead, simply write letters by being yourself. Now that may also sound rather difficult, but write whatever comes naturally. And above all, have fun. Be as humorous or as serious as you desire.

So is letter writing completely worthless or actually beneficial? I hope that you will realize the potential exchanging letters offers. Never be afraid of revealing another side of yourself when you write a letter. Always be willing to give yourself over to the joys and blessings of doing something as simple as sitting down, writing your thoughts, and sending someone a letter.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
