Where courage is gained and stress is swept away.

Why I Write
Miss DreamyMarie

It's Wednesday afternoon and I'm sitting in a cool little joint called Cuppies & Joe. Coffee, desserts and study tables, what more could a college student ask for? I just wrapped up some studying for one of my classes, and all I can think about is what in the hell I am going to write about this week. Being cliche like I am, I decided to write about why I write and what purpose writing serves me.

My writing is meaningful. It comes straight from the heart. Whatever I am feeling during the week is usually what I end up writing about. Some weeks my head is bombarded with ideas and I go on a writing craze, but some weeks my head is lacking ideas and I have no idea what to write about. At first, I started to write for an audience. I wanted whoever decided to read my articles to feel a connection with my stories. I wanted people to realize that I have been through similar situations. I wanted to give advice to people without really giving them advice. I later then realized that I shouldn't write for the purpose of others, I should write for the purpose of myself.

I write because it's a way to express emotion. I write because I enjoy influencing others. I write because even though people may have similar stories, mine are different because the stories are adjusted to my life. I write so that I can wipe some stress off my shoulders and communicate to others without really communicating.

Being a Content Creator for Odyssey is such an amazing group to be a part of. We are allowed to write about any topic that we want. I steer away from the politics and news related articles because it's not my forte. I stick to personal and meaningful articles because they are backed up with passion and firm beliefs with a side of advice and lessons learned. Odyssey has allowed me to venture outside of my comfort zone and try new experiences. Odyssey has given me the opportunity to release stress at the end of each week while influencing others.

Although I don't plan on making a career out of writing, I do, however, plan on sticking with this for as long as I am able to. I look at this opportunity as a chance for me to grow and inspire others. While my stories are altered to my life, I believe that everyone can relate to bits and pieces. Sometimes people are scared to have their voices heard, so they steer away from venturing out of their comfort zone. I promise that it is worth it to be heard.

You don't necessarily have to be a good writer in order to write, you just have to have a strong passion for what you believe in.

"I can shake off everything as I write; My sorrows disappear my courage is reborn." -Anne Frank

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

school

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
