5 Stages Of Writer's Block According To Barney Stinson

When you want to write something legendary, but it just isn't happening.

That darn black line keeps blinking on the blank page, but nothing’s coming out. Whether you’re a writer by choice or obligation, we’ve all had our moments when the ideas ran dry and the words just won’t appear.

When in need of inspiration, I always turn to one of the most legend — wait for it — dary shows of all time for some inspiration.

1. Denial

You just need to take a break and wait for that lightning strike of inspiration! It’ll come to you at any moment now. You’ve got like what, 100 words down? That’s progress! Better take a break and celebrate! Writing comes so easy to you, after all.

2. Anger

This shouldn’t be this hard but, darn it, this is really hard! You write stuff all the time, text messages, emails, notes from class. For whatever reason, the English language has conspired against you and all words have decided to give you the silent treatment. You did nothing to deserve this. Universe, what gives?!

3. Bargaining

Maybe these ideas aren’t so bad after all. You have about a paragraph, but hey, if you turn up that font size a bit it’ll stretch out a little longer, right? Add double spaces in between the sentences, your professor will never know. Really, this is a pretty great paper considering what you’ve been dealing with lately.

4. Depression

This is possibly the worst piece of garbage you have ever written. Re-reading this swill is nauseating. Why did you ever think you could write at all?! Better quit now before anyone finds out you actually wrote this stuff down.

5. Acceptance

Maybe this assignment or topic didn’t pan out so well, but that doesn’t mean all of your writing is trash. You can pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and take another stab at it tomorrow. After all, practice makes perfect, right? We often learn more from our failures than our successes, and if something was learned from an experience, perhaps it wasn’t a failure at all.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
