As I sit here writing this article, I've realised a couple of things. A writer is only as good as he/she wants to be. For the past couple of weeks, I've been in a slump. Yes, you heard right- I had writers block. WHAT THE WHAT?!
Now, I've heard of people who get this horrible disease but I never knew how to cure it. Here is a list of five things to do if you're stuck in a rut.
1. Get some exercise. Sometimes getting out of your norm can help your brain clear up and get new ideas flowing. Go break a sweat! You'll thank me later.
2. Learn to accept your flaws. You aren't going to always have the best ideas. Sometimes, you need to accept the fact that nothing is going on in your brain. You get tired, so just be human.
3. Write your frustration down. Write in on a napkin, paper, journal, or computer. Just write it down and something (anything) will surely pop up.
4. Watch a movie or read a good book. Recently, I've learned that if you want to become a better writer, you need to read other great writers. Whether it be a famous comedian or a national novelist, you need to read good books to get good ideas.
5. Take a break. You don't always need to have an idea swirling in your head. Let your brain turn off for a few.
