Writer's Block Has Hit Me Harder Than The Plague

Writers block. A disease so terrifying it makes anyone who puts their pen to paper fear for their sanity. And we do anything we can to avoid the inevitable realization that we have caught this ailment.

Procrastination being the main placebo. Everything is a welcomed distraction; cleaning, working, baking, and especially playing with your dog. And when it's time to face the music - or in this case a computer screen - you're still left high and dry and out of ideas.

Funnily enough, this article was born out of my inability to come up with ANYTHING to write about. I sat for days just trying to think up something and hoping that I would have a light bulb moment, but to no avail. Until I thought, why not write about what I'm going through?

I've never had writers block like I do until I began writing for Odyssey. Each article and listicle I want to do something different, I want to say something different. And Odyssey has definitely pushed me to where I want to expand my writing and its topics.

But it's like I've gotten to the point in the road where I have hit this massive boulder blocking my path and there's absolutely no way that I can get around it.

This article - I believe - is the first step in helping me get rid of this rock. And with class starting in just a few days, I need all the help I can get with the three writing classes that I'm taking.

Yes, three. Which I'm sure I'll feel the need to rant about in an article at some point this fall semester, but I'll save that for then.

And even trying to wrap up this article is difficult right now. So, I guess I'll just leave it at this: writers block is a real pain.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.
