I think we can all agree that being sick in college is a new kind of evil. There's something extra cruel about trying to get rest and recover in a dorm room. I just want to sleep all day and have room service. Is that too much to ask?

1. Ummm, how much medicine can I take?

Is it just me, or do you call your mom 50 times a day when you're sick? I'm constantly asking her what the right kind of medicine is and how much I can take. It's probably not that hard to do it right, but I always ask my mom anyway.

2. You still have to go to class.

This one really sucks. Dragging myself out of bed at 8:00 am and walking ten minutes to class in the rain is the last thing I want to do when I'm sick. Sometimes you just can't miss that test review though.

3. You just want someone to cook you comfort food.

Unfortunately, you either have to do this yourself or go to the dining hall. Neither one of those options is great when you're sick. Be right back, calling my mom to come over.

4. You want peace and quiet, but you're stuck in a dorm with your roommate.

Giphy

Your roommate always seem to know when you want peace and quiet. Then they choose that time to be super load and obnoxious. I don't want to go to sleep at 1:00 am when I'm sick. Let me be.

5. No one has sympathy for you.

Giphy

When you hit college, no one cares if you're sick anymore. We're all sick and we're all struggling. People just try to stay as far away from you as possible.

6. Your mom isn't there.

Giphy

This is a biggie for me. Being sick without your mom is the worst. How about I just drive home for the night and rest up? Who cares if I have class at 8:00 am the next morning? I just want my mom.

If you're still in high school, thank your mom. You are going to miss her so much when you're in college. Seriously, all the little things she does for you that go unnoticed will be sorely missed. If you're already in college, call her and say hello. It will make you feel better.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
