Halloween is just a few days away which means children — and even some teenagers — across the nation are getting their pillow sheets or pumpkin baskets ready for some good ol' trick-or-treating.
While there are certain candies that reign supreme during Halloween, like Kit Kat or Skittles, there are those candies that nobody seems to like. So if you're going trick-or-treating this year, make sure to avoid these 11 worst candies during Halloween.
1. Dubble BubbleBubble Gum
First of all, these little pieces of gum are so difficult to chew that you will probably have more ease chewing into a brick. Second of all, the flavor is gone as soon as you had your third chew, leaving it stale against your tongue. If you want the flavor to last more than one minute, you have to probably chew five of those. Maybe that's why these tasteless treats come in large packages...
2. Runts
While these candies are very shiny in appearance with their bright coatings, it does not make up for the fact that the flavor is unpleasant. Just make sure you don't bite into these candies because the powder will leave you gagging. Especially the banana one.
3. Dots
Gumdrops normally should be good right? I mean they are made out of gelatin. Yet, when you chew into one, you are chewing into a candy that particularly tastes like rubber. Also, these sometimes get stuck between your teeth which is annoying.
4. Raisins
Do I like raisins? Yes I do. But there is a time and place to eat raisins and Halloween is not one of them. What kid wants to get raisins during trick-or-treating? When it's Halloween, kids expect sugary treats, not a healthy snack. Don't change tradition.
5. Black Licorice
Just looking at black licorice makes me gag in disgust. Some say it's too bitter to taste. Others just don't like the black coloring of it. Whatever it is, black licorice just isn't a fan favorite during Halloween.
6. Tootsie Rolls
You know you went trick-or-treating when you have around a million of these in your bag. There seems to be an endless supply of Tootsie Rolls even though people hate the texture of it. It's basically like Dots — hard to chew and get stuck in your teeth — only chocolate flavored.
7. Fun-Size Candy
Fun-size or bite-size, it's a big let down for many trick-or-treaters during Halloween. No one wants to eat just two mini-pieces of Kit Kat or five milk chocolate M&Ms. Although there are certain candies that are better small, regular-sized candy will do just fine.
8. Bazooka Bubble Gum
Just like the Dubble Bubble gum, these treats will lose their flavor after a minute or so and taste like cement in your mouth. Honestly, gum is just not a good candy to give out during Halloween.
9. Necco Wafers
Although it is an American classic, these chalk-like candies are so bad you rather want to eat actual chalk instead. Luckily these treats are seen less and less as time goes on, but there is always that one person giving these out.
10. Candy Corn
While a signature candy for Halloween, not everyone is excited for this one. Some say it is too sweet for their taste. Others say it's just a waxy substance. Whatever the reason is, candy corn gets old quickly and it feels like you're just eating sugary plastic after five of them.
11. Anything That Is Not Candy
The whole point of Halloween is getting candy, something that you eat. Can you eat a toothbrush? Can your stomach digest any pennies? Does your mouth have any special enzymes that will break down pencils or erasers? No. If you hand out inedible treats, you're just asking for your house to be egged.
There is no escaping these candies during Halloween. They will appear in your baskets even if you don't want them to. However, you'll know not to eat them unless you want to have a "living like Larry" moment during Halloween. All in all, just remember to have fun on Halloween night and get as much good candy as possible!
