Well, here comes another Mother's Day where I feel as if there is no gift in the world that would even come close to the copious amounts of things my Mom has done for me in the past year or past twenty-two years for that matter. Seriously, how could I give her a card and flowers and expect that to suffice for the endless fashion advice, dinners, and shopping sprees she has given me throughout my life. A mug that says "World's Best Mom" will simply not cut it.
I know everyone thinks that they have the best mom in the world, and to each their own, but really my Mom is the greatest. She is probably the coolest and not to mention she dresses way better than I ever could.
She has always given me the best advice. The best piece of advice she has ever given me was during a bad day when I was much younger. I had probably dropped my ice cream cone on the ground or missed the new episode of Arthur, but that is beside the point. While I am sure I was throwing a complete meltdown about this, she said, "if that is the worst thing that happened today, you're doing pretty good."
This piece of advice has stuck with me, through everything and I am so grateful for that because how great is that saying. GREAT. I know. Go, Mom.
You know what, moms are always right. They, low key, know everything. And if you don't believe this yet, trust me, one day you will. She always knew that middle school friendship was going to end badly, but she didn't gloat when it did and it turned out, she was right. As always.
My Mom is the most fashionable mom, maybe ever, not to be biased or anything. I am at the point in my life where I trust her to pick out my clothes more than I trust myself. She just knows what is in style. She cuffs her jeans, wears stylish booties, and rocks platform sandals. And, she is way more photogenic than me.
All of these things make my Mom the cliche mug saying, "World's Greatest Mom."
As Mother's Day quickly approaches, I am positive my Mom will be spending her time doing something selfless instead of basking in the fact that she is loved and is indeed the "World's Greatest Mom."
Regardless of any gift that I get her, my goal this Mother's Day is to make it known that I am so grateful for the things my Mom has done for me. She deserves to feel special for way more than one day because she has made me feel special for twenty-two years. My Mom has been my rock.
And to quote Justin Bieber, in his extremely underrated song, Turn To You (Mother's Day Dedication), "I still turn to you."
