Everyone has a story, its up to you how you write it. Don’t let your past define who you are or your struggles keep you from living the life you always wanted to live. Think back to when you were a child. What did you want to be when you grew up? Did you want to be an astronaut, a princess or even the president of the United States? Those dreams we once had as a child, they were fearless dreams. Dreams that we had without having anyone tell us that we cant do it. Even when were told that the dreams were impossible, we still dreamed that they would happen.
To this day I still dream of being a princess in a castle. That’s the child in myself that I never let go of. Its important to hold on to your childhood and the dreams you once had. As sad as it is, as we get older we lose the child in ourselves. We are told to grow up. Maybe growing up isn’t always the answer. I am 21 years old and I still have the five-year-old child inside me. I still believe in pixie dust and in magic. Coloring brings me back to the time of not worrying or not caring about anything else than being a kid.
As I grew older, I lost the child in me. I lost the magic or the faith I had. When you realize its gone, it can make you sad. However, I never wanted the child in me to go away completely. I believe no matter how old you are that you should still see the world the way that a child sees the world. A child sees the world with an open mind and with such curiosity. They see the world for how it is. There’s no racism or bullying because someone is different. They just like someone because they like the same crayon as they do. Its not until adults tell them how different people are and bring barriers into their lives as they get older that their perspective changes.
If people continued to see the world as a child does, so pure and innocent, the world would be a much happier place. What I take from this is to never lose the child in your self. Stop letting people define you or your past take over your life, think back to the time of chalk on the sidewalk and basketball in the backyard. To times of coloring, Play dough, laughing at the stupidest things and living life: worry free. As much as life throws at you take it with a grain of salt and learn to go with the flow. Everyone has a story, it doesn’t matter what it is or what it was. All that matters is how you can rewrite it to get the most out of life and what you want out of life. Live out your childhood dream, become a princess, even if its not in the way you imagined it would be. Never let magic out of your life, always believe in the good in people. see the world through a child’s eyes. Remember that not all who wonder are lost. Be the one to change things, open up peoples eyes for the better, and guide them.
