We live in a world of convenience. People run on efficiency and even the most minute inconveniences can drive people up the wall. We compromise on too many things in this life because we don't have time to fully experience them or to do things the way they were intended to be done. Convenience is not always a negative thing, but there are a couple things in life that you should NEVER compromise for convenience and that is love, health, and creativity.
1. Don't compromise love for convenience.
Dating in today's society is not the same as it was before this generation. It's become less important to have a SIGNIFICANT other and hookup culture is praised. Why is this? It's because it's convenient to not have commitment. Commitment requires effort and time. Who actually has time to invest and love someone when you can have the benefits of dating without actually having a title? Many people's answer to this question is "no one" and that is unfortunate, because I think everyone deserves the love that no one has time to build with someone now days. It's not convenient to actually have conversations, and to actually get to know someone, or to actually devote yourself to a relationship BUT it is worth it. Don't compromise true love for the convenience of not loving, because while you are trying to save your time by having no commitments you may be losing time with the person you're meant to spend your life with.
2. Don't compromise your health for convenience.
Your body is your temple and it deserves to be taken care of as so, but that is easier said than done for most everyone. This is because it's convenient to go to a fast food restaurant and have over 1,000 calories of food served to you in less than 5 minutes or to go through the drive-thru when you're in a rush and not have to get out of your car. Better yet, if you don't even want to leave the comfort of your home, you can conveniently have pizza or Chinese food dropped off at your front door. I will tell you what is NOT convenient- cooking yourself. It is not convenient to be healthy and to think about what you are fueling your body with. It is also inconvenient to make time to work out and give your body the physical activity it needs. Going to the gym can be a hassle, especially given all the other things you need to get done in a day. However, I will tell you what is even more inconvenient than taking care of a healthy body and that is trying to take care of a body when it is unhealthy. Don't compromise your health and your physical capabilities for the convenience of living an unhealthy lifestyle- because that will only be convenient short term.
3. Don't compromise your creativity for convenience.
We live in a world of technology. At the touch of your fingertips you are able to view the thoughts of millions of people. I will admit, this can be an amazing thing because it gives you the chance to view things from the perspectives of others, and to gain information on every topic you could ever want to know about. However, this convenience has streaked away the creativity of many people and they have stopped forming their own opinions by letting the media form their thoughts for them. We don't even have to think for ourselves anymore because everything seems to have already been thought of. But I feel that this is extremely limiting to our own creative minds. People are overly dependent on the internet and what others have provided us that they have stopped contributing their own creativeness because they feel they are of no contribution at all. Creativity is intelligence and we are compromising this intelligence because it is convenient to rely on the information everyone else has already given us. What if EVERYONE compromised their own creativity? Then there would be none at all, and that would be a boring world.
COMPROMISE YOUR TIME FOR THESE THINGS. Spend more time loving someone, because people love the idea of convenience so much that they miss out on love itself. Spend more time taking care of yourself, because you only have one body and you deserve health and happiness. And spend more time being creative, because it's never okay to limit yourself to the thoughts of others, when you, as your own individual, have so much to offer this world.
