How effective is our historical data?

World History - Fact, Opinion or Fabrication
Prashant Tripathi

World history cannot be ignored, no matter how, you are a little least concerned. This, however, is the only way that the world learns, tunes and updates itself to World_2.0. Famous or infamous, all kind of world events in world history bear serious repercussions and have built the world we are living today. Our actions today will become history tomorrow, and will serve in shaping future generations.

If we were to acknowledge the significance of history and historical data, one can surely argue that accurate record keeping along with the time when the events occurred is of utmost importance.

Over the years historians have had disagreements as to what have over time been scribbled in our history books; if it is factual with sufficient proof or is just an opinion of the person who wrote it. Also, it is not uncommon for rulers, propagandists and dictators the past and present have conveniently forged and fabricated the events to make them appear real. This often helps these leaders to propagate their agenda or conceal their public misdeeds.

There are numerous groups of investigators all around the world who are trying to correlate the available historical data with the time they have been recorded to determine their legitimacy. This task becomes exponentially difficult it is discovered that the calendars have been sabotaged with and are missing days, years, or even decades. Strong rulers in the past have skipped years from their calendar to exhibit their elongated reigns and magnanimity.

On focusing our attention to recent historical data which is fairly new (less than 100 years old), even here we have experts who claim a lot of prominent history as being fabricated. Believe it or not, there are a lot of factions of historians who suggest that Holocaust against Jews around World War II never occurred. This, being an extremely sensitive issue, has been criminalized in lots of European nations in the sense that anyone questioning the legitimacy of Holocaust will suffer legal actions. It's noteworthy that Hitler’s propaganda at his time against the Jews was considered to be a historical fact and triggered an Anti-Semitic environment in Germany and Austria.

Opinions are a major part of world history. We, at times, imbibe upon opinions of famous personalities as facts which might be a total contradiction to the factual history. An important term in the theory of opinionated history is of historical revisionism. To define revisionism, it is a reinterpretation of historical records and data. This may sound to be a rational mechanism to bring the truth and illustrate history based on facts but in a way is another way of imposing your opinions on gullible public.

Now, with so many confusing terms and twisted logic in history, what should our stand be as people when we rely totally on history book and opinions of experts? One way out is to pack your bags and start digging out for evidences yourself which doesn’t seem to be a sane move. This is a question which cannot be answered because beyond any doubt the history seems to be patched with opinions and fabrications and there is no clear cut way to mend it. One can just hope of a magic in near future or a time machine being build which will help us in bringing out facts to present day.

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2023, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.

Christmas is literally so close. We can almost taste it. But there is just one thing standing between you and the big day: FINALS.
