The world needs to be more like Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. You are probably reading this sentence and like, yep I have no idea who she is talking about. If you have ever heard of the popular BBC show "Top Gear", or their new Amazon Prime show "The Grand Tour", now you might know who these guys are. They are three middle-aged men who are from the United Kingdom. These three have been doing a TV show together since 2003. They are all three TV show stars, journalists, and writers.

These three are not special just because they are funny, British, or one is adorable. These three have a special friendship. They are like the perfect friend group. They are the real-life Friends. They really do like each other, but at some points in time, you cannot tell because they tease each other like crazy. The best friends are the ones who always have your back, but are also the first ones to tease you.

But here is the real reason why I am writing this: Richard Hammond and James May both went to college, but not what you would expect a TV star to have. Richard Hammond majored in Art at Harrogate College of Art and Technology. After college Richard worked for many BBC radio stations before he auditioned for "Top Gear". Obviously, he is not exactly using his art degree. James May went to Pendle College, Lancaster University. He got a bachelor of music and specialized in harpsichord and piano. Obviously, he’s not really using his degree at all. After he graduated college he worked in a hospital as a records officer. Jeremey, unlike the other two, did not go to college at all.

What can we learn from this? We can learn that you do not need to follow your plan from college to be wildly successful. These three are well known, it is said that you can go anywhere in the UK and most everyone knows who they are. "Top Gear" was BBC’s largest show, it was and still is insanely popular. Amazon is now putting out multiple advertisements airing on television with them to promote the new season of "The Grand Tour". These three are popular. They had an idea for a show and they had ideas to keep it going. Even when "Top Gear" ended they had somewhat of a plan.

They were not going to just sit around.

They then took even more of their own ideas, formed their own company and then partnered with Amazon for their own show, that they have a lot of part in making. These guys have ideas, goals, and dreams and they follow them and do everything they can to make it happen.

Jeremy has had some run-ins and controversy, so has Richard. James has, for the most part, avoided this. While I know it does not make them perfect, these three set their minds to their jobs and they do it, and quite well. The world needs to have this attitude. Just because you either didn’t go to college, or you majored in something else, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be wildly unsuccessful.

These three are also not scared to be who they really are. You can safely say that they do not change themselves for television. It is fun to watch their interactions together on TV and in interviews, but if you watch them separately or read their writing, they are funny and likable guys. Think of how the world would be if people would actually just be who they are instead of being what the world wants them to be.

These three teach what I call valuable lessons. If you have an idea or a dream, do it and make it happen. Also, be who you want to be. On top of just being funny and a great model of close friends through a lot of stuff, these guys are pretty awesome.

I highly recommend giving their new show on Amazon a watch, you do not even have to like cars!

Until then, back to the tent.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
