The World Is a Little Bit Brighter

A love letter to all those who have changed the life of one who matters

You’re down.

You feel like you’re out.

The world looks gray all around you and you feel like you are just coasting through life.

Whatever the reason for this utter dismay doesn’t even matter anymore, because you are just waiting for something, anything to happen.

And then, it does.

She walks by.

She shoots a glance your way. She even talks to you a couple times.

All of the sudden, you start to see colors again.

You start to look forward to thing again.

And before you know it, you are well on your way to something beautiful.

Fast forward a few months to when the two of you are walking around a mall like you usually do. The world is a little bit brighter and, quite frankly, it is an amazing feeling. I am compelled to ask if others have felt this feeling. Smiles feel bigger, hugs feel warmer, and you feel invincible because of it. Something has changed between the both of you, and you are so excited for each and every day that comes next. High school finishes, college starts, and even more college starts, and you still can’t help but feel the world be brighter every single day.

Now it is on to the future. You see an apartment, and then a house. You see a job, and then a career. You see her, and you see every single thing in your life coming together exactly as you always dreamed it would be. Your world has changed in the last few years, and it is changing even more for the better each and every day. She has made your world a little bit brighter, and you are endlessly thankful for this. Without her, the days would be as gray as the clouds you walked under all those years ago. You haven’t looked back once, and you aren’t going to for as long as you live.

This is for all those who are on top of the world every time they see their better half. The world is a little bit brighter because of them, and they know who they are.

You know who you are. Thank you <3

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
