5 Mini Workouts You Can Do Instead of Going to the Gym

1. Squats in the shower/while you brush your teeth

While you're standing there washing your body or brushing your teeth, consider doing a few squats. This is a really easy way to get a short exercise in.

2. 5-minute workouts in your room

If you have a few extra minutes before studying or going to work, consider doing a short ab workout! Go on YouTube and search 'At Home Abs' and there will be many results for a short ab workout. You can also do this for other exercises too: leg/butt workouts or arms/shoulders! These are really easy and take only a couple of minutes.

3. Take longer walks to class

Did you know you're supposed to have at least 10,000 steps a day, aside from being active? Well, if you struggle to get those steps in every day, take the long route to class or work, or even take a walk in the morning or at night to reach the 10,000 step goal.

4. Skip the elevator! Take the stairs to class/your dorm/work

Who doesn't love taking the elevator... I don't know anyone. But, if you're on a higher floor, consider taking the stairs! You'll feel good after and it will help you get to your 10,000 step goal. Your legs will burn, but who doesn't love to feel the burn?!

5. 10 burpees before every shower

Burpees can be really difficult if you do a lot of them. But, if you 10 or 20 before every shower, you'll feel so good in the shower! This short workout gets your heart rate up really quickly. You won't have to worry about sweating in class or anything if you do them right before a shower. Doing short workouts before the shower will make you feel really good and energized.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
