Working towards the unknown is like walking through a corn maze. You know that you’re supposed to keep going in order to find your way, but if you take one wrong turn, it could take a whole lot longer to finally get through. However, even though it would then take longer to get through, you still have to keep going. And no matter how frustrating walking through those mazes might be at times, it seems that the longer you take, the more satisfied and better you feel when you finally get through! Oh, and did I mention that trying to take the easy way out often leads to taking even longer? Well, it does. Whether it be from accidentally taking a shortcut that ends up not being one at all and coming out at the wrong place, or losing the satisfaction when you reach the destination. The easy way out is always appealing, but it is very, very scarcely ever worth it.
Taking the easy way out is like cheating yourself. You get to the end, but you don’t feel as grateful when you get there and you know you didn’t put in the time, effort and thought that you should have.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “the hardest roads often lead to the best outcomes- the most beautiful destination.”
You might be working really hard with no guarantee exactly how it will work out in the end, but the point is is that you’re putting in effort towards something, or someone, that you believe in, and that’s what counts. That’s what speaks the loudest, and moves you forward in leaps and bounds even if it’s hard to see at times.
Working towards the unknown is also not always going to be in the front of the mind; which makes sense since the outcome isn’t actually right in front of you. However, it is in your mind and all of a sudden you’re doing little things day by day- maybe even subconsciously- working towards this greatness that you can feel deep inside is worth it.
Even if you aren’t sure what the destination will be, exactly, you do know that there is a destination and that’s where you’re headed. So, you might as well make the most out of the journey and do all that you can to appreciate every step you take, whether it be at the front of your mind, or the back of your subconscious- you’ll still get there, and you’ll still be taking the steps you need to get there.
In the unknown, there is frustration and there is fear.
There is surprise and there is gratitude.
There is suspense and there is impatience.
But overall, there is beauty and there is grace --
And there is a destination.
Working towards the unknown can be filled with a lot of paranoia and unanswered questions, but the greatness that is at the destination will shine through in a truly astonishing way.
Just because you can’t always see it, doesn’t mean that it’s still not there.
The unknown is there, and it will all come together in an intricate and elegantly confusing path, and it’ll be known.
Some roads just take a few more turns than most- but aren’t the scenic routes often worth the time and the effort?
Keep going, take your time, and stop to smell the roses.
You got this.
