Saint Joseph’s University offers over 75 clubs and organizations.

One of their clubs that not many people know about is almost like a best-kept secret and that is REPP.

REPP stands for “Rape Education Prevention and Protection.” The purpose of REPP is to help survivors of sexual assault and physical/emotional abuse in the SJU community. They can be survivors of stranger, date, or acquaintance rape or sexual assault; physical abuse, or emotional abuse in a relationship. REPP members are trained to listen, answer questions about violence, offer support during medical examinations, provide crisis counseling and referrals, and many other things. REPP is available 24 hours a day. All information is confidential.

REPP is one of the most important groups on SJU’s campus, but sadly few students actually know about it.

REPP’s most popular and well-known event, “Take Back the Night” takes place in the spring and is an open speak out for sexual assault survivors (but anyone can go.) In addition, REPP will be hosting a movie series this year. REPP will show the popular documentary "The Hunting Ground" which displays the incidence of sexual assault on college campuses, institutions failure to remedy it and the journey of the victims as they pursue justice and their education.

As students and members of society, we have a voice. We have the opportunity to stand up and speak out against sexual assault and domestic violence. You can make a difference.

One in five women in college are sexually assaulted.

Our society has created a rape culture. A culture where rape is the norm on college campuses. We’ve created a rape culture where we victim blame. We criticize and judge what people wear, how much they’ve had to drink, or the situation people “get themselves into.” NO. Rape is NEVER the victim's fault. It is our duty to SUPPORT victims everywhere and raise awareness on this epidemic. It is our duty to RAISE AWARENESS on college campuses and talk about these issues no matter how uncomfortable they are.

As a survivor of sexual assault, REPP is something I am very passionate about and want to make REPP a dominant presence on Saint Joseph's campus.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
