Some tips that could hopefully help the non fitness people get into fitness

Working out? Ugh. *groan*. Trust me, I know, it sucks. I’m the last person to talk about working out or give working out tips because I strongly (STRONGLY) dislike working out. I’m that person that considers working out as walking to the gym so now I should treat myself to a candy or ice cream. Then I have to walk back home, so technically I didn’t even eat the sweet treat. I even consider going to the beach and tanning as working out. Let’s be real, when you’re laying in the hot sand with the sun beating down on your soon-to-be (hopefully) golden skin, you break a sweat. You also break a sweat when you work out. Hence, sweating=working so when you sweat while tanning you’re basically working out.

So as you can see I’m no fitness person. I’m the furthest thing from gym rat or fitness expert or gym is life type motto. But I have slowly started doing little things that seem to be helping to become a little more motivated to be one who works out often.mk

1) Cut out the sweets. Rather than having two candy bars a day have one or two a week. Only allow yourself to have one sort of sweet so if you choose to have a candy bar twice this week then only a candy bar; if you want to have a candy and an ice cream for the week then thats okay. The point is to try to slowly cut the candy out so eventually you can slowly cut all bad foods out. (But I haven’t gotten to that yet so no worries)

2) Start doing a little exercise daily. I don’t mean hit the gym and start lifting weights instead, go on a walk everyday. Since the gym is so unappealing to me I choose to go on a walk or run around my neighborhood everyday. I’m currently in Spain right now so I go run at the park close by. I get time to explore, time by myself (or time with my friends if I go with friends), and some exercise time. The key to this walking or running everyday is just to make it a habit so soon you can replace walking with going to the gym or doing a more intense workout.

3) Last little tip: positive thoughts. If you think of the gym as a dreadful place try to change those thoughts to something positive. “I don’t want to go to the gym because it’s embarrassing how much I sweat,” well instead think “Everyone sweats at the gym who cares. I’m sure there’s someone sweating more than I am.” Try to find the positive in every excuse you make, then it’ll help make the idea of working out and the act of working out much less dreadful. Positive thoughts will hopefully encourage you to go to the gym and then boom you have just become a fitness person!

The little things can help the most when you’re trying to do something you aren’t the biggest fan of doing.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
