Working on a group project is a necessary evil with which all college students must contend at some point in their academic career. The experience is not only rage-inducing, but has been known to cause ulcers (Note: I’m not a doctor, so don’t quote me on that last bit of info).
If you’ve ever had to do a group project, you can probably relate to some of these experiences:
1. When you can’t find a time that works for everyone’s schedule so you have to meet on a Saturday.
2. When you show up on time to a group meeting, only to have to wait around a half hour because everyone else on the team shows up late without calling or texting first.
3. When you get to work and realize you’re the only one who did anything to prepare for your meeting.
4. When you get distracted chatting with your groupmates about something and get absolutely nothing done.
5. When you look at the calendar and realize your deadline is approaching (better get your partners to start knuckling down!).
6. When your partner goes somewhere to get a snack and comes back an hour later.
7. When you can’t agree on how something should be done.
8. When you're trying to combine the parts of a group paper written by different people and have to struggle to make all the different writing styles look consistent.
9. When you finally get done with your work after such a long struggle.
10. When you feel a weight lifted off your shoulders after giving your presentation.
11. When you realize group work isn’t as bad as you make it out to be.
