I've worked at the same fast-food restaurant for the past year and a half.
I've loved it, I've hated it, and most of all I've learned from it. As told by the cast of Grey's Anatomy here's what life is like working at a fast-food restaurant:
1. Sometimes you get a little sick of it all.
You may have stayed up until 3 a.m. finishing a comp paper or are just tired of the 'tude that comes with the customers. Either way, you get sick and tired of it.
2. Customers should know when to stop talking.
We've all had a customer who has shared a little too much info about their personal lives.
3. We wish we could talk about our feelings, too.
When a customer asks, "How are you?" and you can't express your true feelings, but on the inside you're like...
4. Working with your best friend.
When you get to work and find out you're on drive-thru with your best friend and you can suffer together.
5. Picking up shifts.
You love the money, but you hate picking up shifts.
6. When a customer complains about something that is their fault.
True story: one time a customer claimed we put bobby pins on her burger, came in with the burger, and (you guessed it) there were bobby pins on her burger.
That she put there herself.
7. Leaving early.
We're pretty grateful.
8. That one customer you fall in love with.
When a hot customer comes through the drive-thru and you realize you forget to tell them you love them.
9. That customer that just doesn't get it.
Even when I tell them I'm a manager after they ask to speak to one, as if my answer wasn't good enough.
10. And while sometimes you hate it...
You love it.
