Maybe you haven't found enough time in your day, you haven't found the right workout routine for you yet, or you simply haven't been interested in working out. Whatever it is, I encourage you to incorporate working out into your lifestyle. I promise you the time you give up at the gym will be surpassed by all the benefits working out brings to your life.

A lot of people don't realize all the effects of working out that you can't physically see. Working out changes your quality of life for the better, and getting that "Beach Body" is only one of the many advantages. So here are 11 ways working out makes your life better!

1. Working out gives you a huge energy boost.

After working out, you are immediately hit with a huge wave of every day to get you through the day. Working out raises your heart rate and gets your blood pumping which in return, makes you more alert, energized, and focused throughout your day. I don't know about y'all, but the days I don't workout I feel 3x more sluggish and tired.

2. It increases your metabolism.

One of the craziest benefits to working out is its effect on your metabolism. The more you workout, the more your metabolism increases which in return, causes you to burn calories and fat even when you're not working out! It's even more crucial as you age because your muscle mass starts to decrease, which naturally slows down your metabolism.

3. The famous "good feeling"

Have you ever heard of the runner's high? Well, this is the feeling you get when you increase your fitness level. Working out releases good endorphins and hormones which cause you to get a natural "high". In other words, it makes you happier, and can make you feel like you're on top of the world!

4. It's a good way to blow off some steam.

Working out allows you to get your frustration and anger out during intense workouts. It can help manage your stress levels tremendously, and if there's any certain someone who did you wrong, just imagine their face on a punching bag.

5. It improves your agility and fitness level.

Ever walked up a flight of stairs and been completely out of breath? Working out helps you get through daily movements without being so tired. It helps you move faster, take the stairs without dying, and just get through the day a little easier.

6. A HUGE confidence boost is coming your way.

No matter changes in your body or not (but trust me, they will come), working out gives you a great confidence boost in yourself, your abilities, and your appearance. It might just be the little extra push you need to conquer the day and KNOW you look good in that little black dress.

7. It gives you a better night's sleep.

At the end of the day, your body feels good and tired from a good workout. It not only helps you relax easier but also to fall asleep faster and more than likely sleep through the night feeling well rested and refreshed in the morning.

8. Working out improves you mentally.

When pushing yourself in your workouts, and making set routines and following through with them, it actually improves you mentally. Working out gives you a goal and when you accomplish it, it strengthens you mentally and can show you how strong you are, and that you can accomplish many things in your life if you can accomplish this.

9. It strengthens your memory.

Working out is also known to strengthen your memory. There are scientific studies to back this up, but it is known to have positive effects on the brain and helps you remember things more accurately and clearly.

10. Your creativity levels will flourish.

Along with increases memory skills, it is also known to increase creativity. Working out may be the extra little push you need to open your mind more and access your creative side.

11. It helps with the dreadful cramps.

For all you ladies especially, working out is a natural cure for the nasty cramps we get monthly. Not only these cramps, but any cramps experienced can be helped with working out. So next time you hit your monthly cycle hit the gym!

31 days is how long it takes to make something a habit, something like brushing your teeth, to where you don't even have to think about it anymore. So I encourage you to workout got 31 days, however long you can go, for however many days you can go, and I promise you that your quality of life will be heightened tremendously.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
