When I started working on the Boston Waterfront, I was a little skeptical. Tourists have never been my favorite and I knew I would be dealing with them a lot. Luckily for me, it was probably one of the best decisions I've made. Here are some of the reasons why I love working on the Boston waterfront.
1. Free Boat Rides
The fact that I can get on most of the commuter boats for nothing is pretty awesome.
2. The View
This is my view from work. Nice, isn't it?
3. The Sea Air
There is probably nothing better on a ninety degree summer day than getting down to the waterfront and feeling a cool sea breeze on your face.
4. Flexible Hours
People want to go out on the boats at all hours of the day and night, so you have plenty of options for when you want to work.
5. Knowing Boston’s History Better Than The Tour Guides
It's almost become a game to us -- trying to figure out who knows more than the tour guide.
6. The History Itself
The feeling of history is always present, especially when you work a block a way from where the Boston Tea Party happened.
7. Job Stability
There will always be tourists on the Boston waterfront, which means there will always be jobs at the tourist attractions.
8. Tourist's Money
As a bartender, the tourist tips are always welcome.
9. Hook's Lobster
Really, really good seafood. That is all I have to say.
10. Aquarium Passes
We don't get free passes for working on the waterfront. People just drop there's a lot. Finders keepers.
11. Friendships
Working at a tourist trap, the crazy stories we all have are what cause friendships to form, even between other companies.
