From the perspective of an employee.

America may run on Dunkin' Donuts but Dunkin' Donuts runs on their employees and here are 10 things they want you to know.

1. Regular does not mean not flavored/ caffeinated coffee.

A medium hot regular means three creams and three sugars in your coffee. If you say you want a regular coffee then the employee is obligated to assume that you mean you want the regular amount of cream and sugar.

2. Lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, smoothies, and sandwiches all take a significant amount of time to make.

The turbo shots and cook time for sandwiches, lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos take time that is out of control. Smoothies also require the amount of yogurt and base to measured out exactly which takes time as does the machine in which smoothies are made it. No, we cannot speed up the process unless you want your drinks and food not cooked the way they are supposed to be.

3. PLEASE DO NOT order bulk over the drive-thru.

The drive-thru was created so a small amount of items could be purchased quickly and efficiently. If you order a bulk of drinks and food through the drive-thru then not only will it frustrate the workers but it will take time and increase the wait time of the customer. Drive-thrus run on a timer so the more you order the more our time goes down.

4. There is a camera in which employees can see the customers when ordering over the drive-thru.

Yes, we can see you making faces and flipping us the finger because we asked you to repeat the order.

5. Our biggest pet peeve is when a customer comes through the drive-thru says, "one second" and then proceeds to talk on the phone.

Once again we run on a timer and we can see/ hear you. If you are on a phone call, pull over and finish the phone call before pulling up to the speaker. Not only is it incredibly frustrating and rude but when we are trying to make your coffee to perfection and you look at us like we are interrupting you and refuse to answer our questions, it hinders our work and slows down our speed.

6. There are no such things as "half" a sugar or cream.

All our machines have pre-measured shots. The smallest size shot we have is one shot, not half, not quarter.

7. Customers need to specify whether they want hot or iced coffee.

No, we cannot read your mind. No, we do not know if you want hot or iced coffee. Do not get angry at us because we asked you to specify, we are just trying to make your coffee right.

8. Mistakes happen...especially at 4:30 in the morning.

Dunkin' Donuts employees are not perfect just like you so please do not act like we killed your dog just because your coffee is not right, we will happily remake your coffee for you free of charge.

9. No, we do not know the nutritional value of every single item on the menu.

It is not apart of the job description to know every single nutritional value of all our items. All the information you need is available online or on our DD Perks app, please do not attack us because we do not know that information.

10. We deserve your respect.

Most of the people working at Dunkin' Donuts are college students trying to pay for school (like myself), high school students, or adults trying to make ends meet. Most of us have other jobs and work long days just like you, please do not take out your anger on us. We respect you just like you should respect us. I can not even begin to describe how many times I have been talked down to by a customer and forced to smile my way through it because that is the way I chose to carry myself and because I value the store I work at.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
