Working out and getting fit, or at least dragging your feet to the gym, is really hard to stay motivated to do. You know it's really good for you and something you should definitely do more often. But there is nothing worse than running on the treadmill, lifting weights, or even conquering the rowing machine with nothing to listen to but the sound of others grunting and moaning in pain around you. So here is a list of some more uncommon songs that I have personally found very motivating when powering through leg day at the gym.
1. "Gives You Hell" by The All-American Rejects
Even though the song is pretty brutally honest and downright rude to who it was made for, this motivates me to keep pushing through and working for the body and confidence I want. Imagine an ex or frenemy passing you by, and even commenting on how could you look.
2. "Side to Side" by Ariana Grande
This inspires me because of the music video, even if the song is strangely sexual. It's a nice song to cycle to and keeps you going at a steady pace with the beat of the song.
3. "Crank It Up" by David Guetta
I personally like this song, especially in a ZUMBA class that is so full of energy and smiling faces.
4. "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boy
I like using this song as a good base for starting a jog. Use the slower parts to warm up and running at your own pace to the chorus of the song. This works up a sweat and keeps you from full out sprinting for an hour straight.
5. "Still Breathing" by Green Day
This song is really good for any kind of workout. It's very motivating and keeps you wanting to charge forward when things get hard.
6. "Part of Me" by Katy Perry
Almost like the idea of seeing an ex for the first time, this song motivates you to work on being the best you that you can be and not worry about what anyone else thinks. Make whoever sees you wish they hadn't treated you poorly in the past.
7. "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga
This song, in particular, is good for knocking out a few reps of whatever home workout you do daily. The steady beat keeps you at a good pace and has some really good fast bits for a more intense set of reps.
8. "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5
Another great song for dancing and just keeps you constantly moving.
9. "Emperor's New Clothes" by Panic! At the Disco
I love cycling to this song in particular because of its beat and something about it just keeps me wanting to plow through the jumps and hill settings.
10. "Move Your Body" by Sia
Another song great for any workout that is literally about getting down and moving your body whichever way you want.
Whether these ten songs will make it to your playlist, I personally feel more motivated to go on that run or hit the bench press with some encouraging music to listen to. Find what songs speak to you and have them at the ready for your next workout session.
